Reflective Essay
Throughout the course of this semester I have learned more about myself as a writer and communicating through essays. At the beginning of the semester I came in not really knowing how to write an essay without using too many words or pages. At the beginning of the semester I also viewed writing as a form of busy work and just another grade in the gradebook. As I started writing more and more essays throughout the semester I started learning how to put together well concise essays and started to see progress in my writing. I started paying more attention to prompts and how I want to organize my writings and how I want to format them by being clear and concise and not over speaking.

One strength I have gained from this class is being able to explain and articulate my ideas and points without over writing and over complicating things. It became easier for me to voice my ideas and write naturally. I became aware of my weaknesses throughout the semester as well. Sometimes I write too fast and tend to rush my writing which causes me to not double check my work and make more errors. Another one of my weaknesses is not being able to read the prompt for the essay clearly which can cause my essay to be a little off topic at times, and my writing can also be a little too repetitive at times.
Overall I felt like I have learned and gained a lot of knowledge throughout the semester about literature in general from taking this class to reading and analyzing literature, to writing essays, and being able to edit other people's essays. Throughout the semester I did co curricular activities, 5 weeks worth of journal entries, found artifacts, learned grammar, and wrote over 3 essays.
